  • How many falls are in the Sipi Falls?

The Sipi falls have three main falls which are the upper Falls (Chebet falls) – these are the most visited because they are the most accessible and also considered the highest of the 3 standing at 100 meters (330 feet). The next is the middle fall that is 60 meters high, it has some of the most breathtaking views with so much lush vegetation. Then the smallest which is also the lower fall is stands at 30 meters high, it is the most beauty fall but quite harder to access- its at this fall that you go for swimming and relaxation. The falls also have other isolated falls that include the Ngasire Falls and the Kapkwai Falls,

  • Where do the sipi falls originate from?

So, the sipi falls get their water from the sipi river which comes from mt. Elgon dormant volcano. The river flows from the wagagai peak to the sipi and chebet area to form the falls.

  • When can I hike to Sipi Falls?

Anytime of the year is good for a hike to the sipi falls but usually people prefer to hike the falls during the dry seasons or months which are December, January, February, June, July, august and a couple of days of September

  • How long does it take to hike to Sipi Falls?

Depending on the pace you are hiking, you can take about 4 to 6 hours hiking the falls. However, you should know that some people with better physical abilities will take less time.

Well, because its water and rocky trails, the biggest safety concerns at the falls are slipping on the rocks as you trek. This is why you have the guides to direct you on a trail and help you trek and hike safely. The falls have a number of creatures that can bite, so you be quite aware of that as you hike. the other concern which is rare is getting lost in the cave sides of the falls; but it’s rare because your always with a guide.

The wildlife at the sipi falls is not actually at the falls, but while at the falls you can have sighting of animals that are in the Mt. Elgon national park

Yes, you can go to the sipi falls alone, but you can not take the hike alone.
